The Modern Griselda: a Tale. By Miss Edgeworth
(Review / The Modern Griselda: a Tale, by Maria Edgeworth)
  Monthly Mirror /JAS, 1805
  vol 19 p185-86
The original Griselda's constant reply to all her lord's commands, was 'Signor mio io son presta,' but this modern Griselda is [186] a poor and spiritless copy of 'Kate the curst.' Some of the consummate patience of the Italian heroine, occasionally appears in the hapless mate of her namesake, and much must be exercised by the reader of this tale, which adds nothing to the reputation of Miss Edgeworth.
